La aorta y la válvula aórtica son contínuos anatómicos y muchos pacientes tienen enfermedades que afectan a ambas estructuras. El manejo de estos pacientes está evolucionando rápidamente y la estrecha colaboración entre cardiólogos clínicos, expertos en imagen, cardiólogos intervencionistas, cirujanos vasculares y cirujanos cardíacos es de suma importancia. El curso "Aorta and the Aortic Valve 2010" resulta de la combinación de dos simposios: "Aortic Valve Disease: An Update" y "IX Advances in Understanding Aortic Diseases". Creemos que este enfoque integrado será una excelente oportunidad para el debate entre todos los especialistas que tratan con estos pacientes difíciles.
